Stop numero dos!
I have been wanting to go to the Hotel MacDonald's High Tea, for what seems to be YEARS now. I have been fortunate enough to go to one of the brunches on a Sunday morning, but never seemed to be able to coordinate the time to come in for High Tea.
Considering my move in this next year, I thought what a cute tradition to start! A few of my closest girlfriends were able to make it to out to High Tea, and it was such an experience!
Upon arrival we received a glass of champagne, quickly followed with some loose leaf tea. If I am honest, the tea was a little disappointing, as it was super weak, even when left to steep for a long time. And it would have been useful to receive some sort of instruction on how to formally have the tea ( do you let the tea steep in the cup or in the pot ? ).
I was lucky enough to receive a couple gifts, my fave, would be the selfie stick! But of course the others were just as awesome!! Next up was a grapefruit and orange fruit cocktail with a balsamic drizzle. It looked pretty, and was tasty but - I have to admit it was a little disappointing.
Finally, the cutest and tastiest part of the experience! The cutest little sandwiches, and deserts!! I really enjoyed all of these little tasters. And I love HOW bite sized they were. You got to have a little flavour and taste of everything without getting super full!
This is good for people like me who always look to everyone else's plate but need to finish what is on their own!
The only downer to this moment was at approx 3:52 to the waiter brought over my special birthday cake, and asked if we wanted to take part of the tour ( which we did ) and then he said that it would be commencing at 4PM. It would have been super helpful to know when the tour started upon arriving so we could have planned our time accordingly. We also asked if we could potentially come back to our table to finish up our deserts after the tour, in which we were declined because they needed to get ready for dinner.
Again, it would have been super useful to know this - this made the experience rushed, and we weren't able to even fully finish our meal, which when it comes in at approx $50 per person, it was a little bit of a let down.
But, on to the tour!
The tour was really cool! Hearing the details of how much it cost to build the hotel, some of the challenges that they faced, some of the famous people ( including the Queen, that have stayed there ! ). There was unfortunately some areas in which they couldn't show us on the tour ( which would have been nice to be informed of prior to booking ) but it was still a great experience with some great people!
