Date Night Out : Cuban Edition
It feels like absolute ages that Paul and I have been on a date night - but with the said, summer is absolutely flying by. I cannot believe that we are now in AUGUST !
This past weekend, Paul and I got to visit a local restaurant called The Cuban - it has recently gone under new management and we have heard nothing but good things about it.
The only regret I had was that we didn't go later in the evening so we could experience the live dancing and band !
The lovely folks at The Cuban asked us if there was anything that we don't like - in which i just gestured to my body, and said... does it look like there is anything i don't like ? lol.
That being said, we first started off by having some breaded halloumi - that had theeee best honey drizzled over it. This will defo be something i have to come back for SURE !
And then the second dish, unfortunately i cannot remember the name of, but it was a marinated fish, as well as i believe some caviar on top of some toasted baguette. This was definitely Paul's favourite of the two.
For mains, we had the most delicious beef tacos. These tacos are a combination of slowed cooked shredded beef finished with peppers and red onions plated in two oven baked tortilla shells. Served with sour cream, guacamole and tomato salsa. Add a side: Rice or Fries
And guess what guys, they even provided the guac... no need to ask for it to come on the side !
Next up - was a trio of pork ! An elegant dish smoked in-house using Beech Wood with three separate cuts. Pork Belly, slow-cooked for 36 hours using the Sous Vide method allowing the natural fats to melt slowly and baste the meat underneath. 9-hour-braised Pig Cheeks, packed with flavor, extremely tender. Also a Pork Fillet medallion. Served with caramelized ! Yumm!
With our hearts and bellies full - this is where we called it a night ! You will have to let me know if you have been to The Cuban here in Bristol - what was your favourite item on the menu ?
